Fleeing Mipple City on a bus, Omaha stops over in Madison, Wisconsin and takes a cheap motel room and dyes her hair blonde. She continues her odyssey to the small town of Lawrenceville, searching for the man who is still her husband, David Joplin. Shelley Hine practices with leg braces in a physical therapy center then goes to a women’s bookstore to do some research about support groups in the city. She meets Mickey, a cleark and they have a short conversation and then go to lunch.
