Billed as “America’s First & Only Music Comix Magazine,” BOP never made it to a second issue. Despite a terrific dancing Wurlitzers cover by John (Garbage Pail Kids) Pound, the issue sold miserably. The music-themed comics were by Alex Toth, Harvey Pekar, Bill Fugate, Trina Robbins, Joe Schwind, Bob Laughlin, Marc Hempel, Doug Erb and Rick Geary. Publisher Denis Kitchen was unhappy with editor Cat Yronwode and her editorial choices and promptly killed the publication. Five years later, Yronwode and BOP record reviewer and Eclipse Comics co-founder Dean Mullaney married. Nearly all of the thousands of unsold issues of BOP were literally taken to a Wisconsin landfill site in the mid ’80s,
