S. Clay Wilson has always led the raunch fest in underground comics, and Pork not only brings us plenty of Wilson’s peerless raunch but is also one of the handful of comics that feature his long-form stories. Like Snatch, Jiz and Felch, Pork is even smaller than digest size at 5×7 inches, but they all pack plenty of bawdy indecency in their pages. Pork gets the ball rolling with “Balls and Box,” one of Wison’s classic pirate-and-wench tales that features an ever-horny crew succumbing to a mutiny by their slave girl captives before getting ambushed by a rival pirate ship. The crew is forced to escape on a tiny life boat, which seems like a vessel of starvation before a massive explosion delivers manna from heaven.
The second of two stories is “Pudocchio,” a smutty parody of Pinocchio in which the protagonist is a licentious rogue who would “slip the meat into anything that could walk, crawl or scoot.” The only problem for Pudocchio is that his schlong would grow longer when he started lying and wouldn’t stop until he told the truth. This curse leads to disastrous consequences for not only his next bimbo but for himself…but strangely enough, not for his thirsty middle leg!
The rest of book is filled out with one-pagers, most of which were originally published in The Realist. Overall, Pork doesn’t quite rank with the best of Wilson, but it provides some unique comics and therefore is essential reading for his fans.
