Settling in to Mipple City again Omaha and Chuck visit a furniture store to furnish their new house, bought with the money from the late Charles Tabey Sr. They have a run-in with a smarmy salesman who offends tehir privacy. At the same time Shelley and Huddle have a more srious confrontation with a hospital official while looking for a physical therapy program for Shelley. The prim bureaucrat who interviews them expresses shock at the idea of Shelley living independently of the institution’s housing. The plan callls for Shelley and Huddle to occupy the lower flat of Omaha and Chuck’s duplex. Promising to think about the matter they leave and Shelley is assailed by doubts. Huddle convinces her to follow their original plan.
