Army of Principles
Kitchen Sink 1976
Published in America’s bicentennial year of 1976, An Army of Principles is Leonard Rifas’s ode to early American history, from the colonization of the country through the independence revolution and the 18th century. An Army of Principles covers a lot of territory (literally and figuratively) with efficiency and is a surprisingly entertaining read.
This is the kind of educational comic book (there are quite a few of them in the underground) that should have been printed in the millions in 1976 and distributed throughout school systems across the country. Back when kids actually read non-manga comic books.
