Kitchen Sink Summer 1982
Several more comic creators join the fun for Commies from Mars #4, including Melinda Gebbie, who illustrates Adam Cornford’s tale, “Hall Monitor from Mars.” Peter Kuper chimes in with his second contribution to the series, “True Martian Romance,” which is terrific. After skipping an issue, Hunt Emerson is back with “The Date.” Spain Rodriguez memorializes Wallace Wood on the inside back cover, and S. Clay Wilson gives us a colorful Checkered Demon page on the back cover.
And of course, John Pound contributes another stunning front cover, which earns him another Top Twenty Underground Covers award. It was hard to decide whether to give him another award for this cover or the one he did for issue #3, but this one wins by a nose (or a nipple). Unfortunately, this was Pound’s last cover for the series, but Kenneth Huey fills in admirably when the series resumes four years later.
