Richard Corben self-published Fantagor #1 in 1970, two years after his first published work appeared in the fanzine Voice of Comicdom. The 1st printing of Fantagor was 8.5×11 inches and the cover and interior paper is heavier and higher grade than subsequent printings. Corben contributes two of the three feature stories, though one was written by Starr Armitage. Herb Arnold and Armitage collaborated on the third story.
The first printing of Richard Corben’s horror/adventure comic, published by Corben’s own self-publishing outfit Fantagor in a run of 1500. Can be distinguished from later printings by lack of cover price and Last Gasp emblem, and by magazine-sized format on higher quality paper. Twilight of the Dogs and Inna Pit by Richard Corben. Also, The Devil in the Well, story by Starr Armitage with art by Herb Arnold, and Razar the Unhero, story by Starr Armitage with art by Corben. Mature readers. 8-1/2″ x 11″. Black and white; 28 pages. Covers by Corben. No price printed on exterior cover, but listed at $1.50 on interior front cover.
