Dope Comix #2 features one of my Top Twenty Underground Covers by John Pound, who also did some of the marvelous Commies from Mars covers. The cover art here, which is worthy of poster status, elevates the review score for this book by a full point. Which, given the mediocre review score, tells you something about the rest of the comic.
Bottom line, Dope Comix #2 is loaded with nothing but cautionary, and therefore rather dreary, stories about illicit drugs. That still means there are tons of stories about illicit drugs, which is always interesting regardless of the perspective, but it is the perspective that makes this comic book formulaic instead of innovative or informative. Features Trina Robbins, (early) Mark Beyer, Sharon Kahn Rudahl, Joe Coleman, and Lee Marrs, among others.
