Not since the 1920 when HP Lovecraft made the readers of Weird Tales shiver in daylight and toss uneasily at night, has the art of horror been as exciting as it is today. Horror has entered the postmodern world wtih an explosion of crativity in the psychological and character driven works of Poppy Z Brite and the fullly realized worlds of Dan Simmons, contemporary mores darkly mirrored by Anne Rice and the gemlike stories of Nina Kiriki Hoffman and many others.
The dark roots of this kind of social and psychological horror are found in the EC comics of the ’50s and it’s high time that comics rejoined this fabulous dark carnival. Welcome to Vol 3 of Death Rattle.
