Almost nine years after the series debuted, Dr. Atomic completes its run with its 6th issue. The final issue features one epic story, “Chariots of the Sun,” which is a complex tale of aliens and spaceships. To be honest, it’s been a while since I read this comic, so I’ll need to read it again before providing an appropriate critique. What I can conclude is that Dr. Atomic was one of the signature characters of the underground comics era. Perhaps not quite Mr. Natural or Fat Freddy, but right there with Captain Guts, Harold Hedd and Snappy Sammy Smoot.
